Subsea Cables

Our experience within the subsea cables sector began with supporting the installation of Fibre Optic Cables for the telecoms sector. Our senior management have supported Subsea Telecoms Cable installations all over the world during their careers.

 

This experience and knowledge transferred seamlessly into HVDC cable installation projects for the offshore wind industry. Since starting with wind farm inter-array cables in 2001 our management have since worked on both inter-array and export cables on most UK based offshore wind farms, a number of wind farms in the German and Northern European sectors and a few interconnector projects.

 

In conjunction with our clients and subcontractors, we have carried out a number of services supporting the installation, inspection and repair of FOC and HVDC cables including:

  • Route Planning

  • Pre-lay Surveys (Diving and Hydrographic)

  • Post-lay surveys (both Diving and Hydrographic)

  • pUXO Surveys

  • Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD)

  • Pre-lay Grapnel Runs and Route Clearance

  • Rigging and Cable Handling works on deck

  • Shore-end preparation and installation support

  • Installation of CPS (on deck and on the seabed)

  • Post-lay diver burial (in shallow and deep water)

  • Mass Flow Excavation (MFE) for de-burial prior to recovery and reburial following repair.

  • Cable bight recovery and redeployment following repair.

  • Subsea inspections of both energised and earthed cables.

  • Concrete and Frond Mattress Installation

  • Subsea cable fault investigations

  • Cable toning and tracking with various tracking systems

  • Loading and unloading of ploughs and jetting tools
